McConnell Golf Courses Earn Strong Gains in 2026 N.C. Golf Panel Rankings
McConnell Golf once again placed all of its North Carolina private clubs among the state’s Top 100 courses, highlighted by four clubs earning Top 25 rankings in the North Carolina Golf Panel’s 30th annual statewide rankings, published in the April issue of Business North Carolina magazine.
Leading the portfolio is Greensboro’s Sedgefield Country Club, home of the PGA TOUR’s Wyndham Championship, ranked No. 7 in North Carolina. Old North State Club in New London followed at No. 11, while Raleigh Country Club climbed to No. 15. Durham’s Treyburn Country Club made one of the year’s biggest moves, jumping four spots into the Top 25 at No. 25.
In total, 11 McConnell Golf courses earned Top 100 recognition statewide, marking a strong year of upward momentum across the company’s North Carolina portfolio.
Several Triangle-area clubs posted notable improvements. The Country Club at Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh made a significant leap, rising to No. 75 from No. 94 last year. Treyburn’s move into the Top 25 further strengthened the region’s standing among the state’s premier courses.
Eastern North Carolina also saw major gains, as Wilson Country Club surged into the Top 100 at No. 84 after being unranked last year — one of the largest upward moves in this year’s rankings.
Other McConnell Golf properties earning Top 100 honors include:
Country Club of Asheville, ranked No. 52, up two spots year-over-year.
The Cardinal by Pete Dye in Greensboro, ranked No. 54, continuing its steady upward trend.
Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, improving to No. 57.
Providence Country Club in Charlotte, ranked No. 85.
Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, rounding out the list at No. 100.
McConnell Golf remains the only individual golf course owner in the world to steward four Donald Ross-designed courses, including Sedgefield Country Club and Raleigh Country Club, both of which continue to rank among North Carolina’s elite layouts.
The North Carolina Golf Panel rankings are determined by a statewide group of media members, golf professionals and business leaders who evaluate courses on playability, design, conditioning and overall experience.
The 2026 rankings underscore another strong year for McConnell Golf courses statewide, reflecting continued investment in course conditioning, facilities and member experience across the company’s portfolio.
