Cookie of the Month: December 2026
“It started one Christmas when my daughter wanted to make cookies for Santa. I had always told her that Santa loved sugar cookies, because those were my favorite. That particular year, we decided to step it up a bit—mostly because of the size of her list! So I said, “It’s late at night… early in the morning… so let’s add bacon too.” Once we started making the cookies, I thought about candied bacon (I’m also a huge bacon fan), so we took a last-minute shot at it. They came out so good. I couldn’t wait until she went to sleep so I could finish them off. She’s older now, so we haven’t made them in a while, but I’m thinking about making another batch this weekend because they’re just that good!” - Chef Brandon Wallace

Candied Bacon
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Lay the strips of bacon on a sheet pan fitted with a rack.

Remove from the oven and allow the bacon to cool completely.
Sugar Cookies
Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C).
In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whip the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add the egg, vanilla, and milk to the butter–sugar mixture and mix until smooth.
Add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients and mix to form a dough.
Chop 3 strips of the candied bacon and fold them into the cookie dough.
Scoop the dough into 1–2-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet.
Sprinkle or place the remaining chopped candied bacon on top of each dough ball.
Bake for 10 minutes.
Let the cookies cool slightly, then enjoy!
